Who's who?

I thought it would be fun to see how much my two boys look alike...can you tell which one is Colt and which one is Lane? They are both around the same age (within a week of each other).

This Boy is Ready to Eat!

On Monday, April 4th, Austin and I were blessed with our second healthy bouncing baby boy! We dropped Lane off at Cicle and Pops house around 9:15 and arrived at the hospital at 10:00 am. I was hooked up to the typical mommy and baby monitors. Colt is moving like crazy, I'm having a few contractions, and begin to realize that our baby will be here in less than 2 hours. Around 11:00 my parents, Cicle, Pop, Tressa and Lane, and Mark Maybrey (minister at Macedonia COC) arrive. At this point we are just hanging out in the prep room. I have asked the nurse a thousand questions about the upcoming Csection. Around 11:30 she informs me that at 12:00 we will be walking into the procedure room. Ok, I am totally cool with this (I actually lost it the night before and cried my eyes out in the parking lot while my husband is praying for me and Colt...slightly scared of surgery). People do this everyday...In comes the nurse and anastesiologist completely decked out in their surgery gear, we say a quick prayer with the family, and off we go. When I walked into the surgery room I was COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED!! I stopped mid-step and just stared. There was a lady counting all the surgical tools (58 to be exact). I almost lost it again. The anastesiologist reassured me that everything will be ok, and that I will do great. I kept telling him I was very overwhelmed. He told some jokes and stories (don't remember them) and helped me relax. Around 12:30, Dr. Allen and Austin come in. At this point all I can feel are my arms and head (LOL). At 12:38 pm I get to hear the sweetest sounds of my baby boy, Colt James and then I hear Dr. Allen say "Ha, this boy is ready to eat!" Colt was only halfway out, Dr. Allen was clearing Colt's airway, and the boy latches on to his finger! LOL!

A few minutes later Austin brings Colt to me and we get to enjoy a few minutes together (while the doc is still working on me) meeting and talking to our precious gift. I was thrilled and relieved that the delivery went well and the he and I were both doing well.

Once I was sewn up, they took me back to the Labor and Delivery room where this all started. The nurse came in and informed me that they would be bringing Colt in shortly to nurse! I immediately started crying! (With Lane I had to wait almost 3 1.2 hours before I got to see him). Austin brought Colt in, he nursed, and we were able to share some time together before bringing in Lane. Lane was so sweet with Colt and just wanted to touch him, hold him, and kiss him. Then AUstin's family came in (my family ran to Subway to get us some food). At this point our wonderful nurse told us that it was time for Colt's bath. I assumed they were taking Colt back to the nursery, but to my surprise, they bathed him in the Labor and Delivery room with me, Lane, Austin, Cicle, Pop and Tressa all in the room to watch and take LOADS of pictures! I was ELATED! This is usually something that mommy's have to miss, but ECM is starting to change this procedure as long as the mommy and baby meet certain criteria! It was absolutely precious to watch the nurses give him his first bath and to watch Lane cover his ears! LOL

Now that we are at home, everything is running smoothly as possible. Austin is a wonderful daddy and husband. I am very limited as to what I can do (due to the C-section), so Austin I picked up alot of my duties. I have had a ton of help from my mom as well, and from precious friends and family from church bringing us food. Lane has done great with Colt and has been very understanding with me and my limitations with him. Of course he was very interested in my incision (which I showed him) and he wants to make sure that my "booboo" is ok.

We will go tomorrow for my two week follow up and for Colt's two week appointment. Austin and I did not take him to his one week follow up because on Wednesday (before we left) Colt weighed 7 lbs, 3oz, then on Thursday morning before we left the hospital he was at 7 lbs 5 oz. Then on the Saturday after we came home, Colt was up to 7 lbs 8 oz. I am curious to see how much he weighs at the doctors office b/c the boy likes to eat! LOL. More posts to come very soon!

The Beginning of the End

Here we go...the beginning of the end, the light at the end of the tunnel is finally in view. Colt will be here on April 4th! Only 12 more days, oh my! Austin and I saw Dr. Allen yesterday and it has been determined that I will need to have a C-Section in order to deliver Colt without having all the difficulties that I had delivering Lane. Dr. A spent at least 45 minutes with us presenting us with his analysis (pros and cons of a vaginal delivery vs. a Csection) and we all agreed that a C is necessary. There are really too many (TMI) type tidbits that I will not share on here, but we all three agree that for the well being of Colt and me that a C is completely, 100%, without a doubt necessary!

My last day at school will be Wednesday, March 30th and I can leave my classroom and children in good hands with Shera Albright! She will do an excellent job!

We will go back to the doctor on Monday, and I am sure that I will have a ton of questions ready for Dr. Allen.

I cannot wait to meet Mr. Colt James...the beginning of great things!

Changes

Lane is getting too big, too fast and he is about to go through the biggest change of his almost 3 year old life...becoming a big brother! Last Saturday Austin and I took him to the Sibling class at ECM and he learned alot of things about becoming a great big brother and a great big helper (lets just hope he remembers them in April!). He learned how to change a diaper, hold the baby's neck, and how to swaddle the baby. Of course, he was the youngest one there and the only boy (other than a 12 year old). So needless to say, he was very interested in taking the baby apart! LOL Hopefully he will NOT attempt this with Colt! Ha!

After practicing with the babies, the children in the class got to dress up like "doctors" and got to take a tour of the labor/delivery room and the recovery room. Lane was very attentive and hung on the nurses every word as she talked about the IVs that would be in mommy. :) Hopefully letting him see some of the hospital will make him feel more at ease when we return for the big delivery.

Another major change was moving Lane to his Big Boy room. HE LOVES IT!! The log bed is actually a bunk bed, but we are going to wait until he is a little older to add the top bunk. My mom made the curtains, throw pillows, and she painted the painting over the bed. We plan to add a teepee in the other corner of his room with some more throw pillows to use as his "reading corner".

The bow and arrow that is hanging on the wall was made by Pop (Ken) at Halloween. And of course the deer had to stay too (donated proudly by Austin)!

I think Austin and I were more nervous about moving Lane into a different room, but, we quickly realized that Lane made the adjustment within a matter of seconds! Lane is a great kid, and we can't wait to see what kind of a great big brother he will be!

Dinnertime Entertainment

While we enjoy our quesadillas, Lane decides to entertain us with his LeapFrog number song. Never a dull moment!

Colt James...How do you do that?

I went to the doctor earlier this week and had to have an ultrasound to check for placenta placement. At my 19 week ultrasound it showed that the placenta was sitting low, but at this appointment the placenta moved up and I am in the clear of placenta previa! Thank you for an answered prayer!

While I was in the ultrasound room I asked the tech if she would mind getting a couple of 4D shots if Colt would cooperate. Of course, he didn't. He kept his hands over his face the entire time, but the above picture blows my mind. He has his leg over his face and it looks as if his chin is resting on his foot! How in the world do babies manage those crazy positions??

I will go back in 3 weeks for our official "4D" ultrasound and hopefully Colt will be more cooperative! He and I are both doing great and it is so fun to feel him moving and doing all of his womb excercises!
